[Solved] This Transfer Exceeds Limit. Try a Smaller Amount

When using the Western Union mobile app you may come across many error messages that may not make any sense to you. 

Sometimes the app would show random error codes that can only be dealt by Western Union’s customers service. An example would be c2201 or R7008, R7009.

All of these codes have specific meanings indicating a problem with the money or the user account. 

You might have come across the error message “This transfer exceeds the limit. please retry with a smaller amount”, and wonder what it actually means

The error can indicate several problems with the app or the money transfer. 

Here is the order of troubleshooting methods you can use to fix the issue.

Try a Smaller Amount

Try lowering the amount of money transfer. 

If you read the error message carefully, The app is advising you to send a lower amount. This can happen either because your receiver is exceeding the receiving or you are exceeding the sending limit for the last 30 days. 

The amount you have remaining in your limit is less than what you are trying to send. 

Reinstall the App

If you believe you or your receiver have not exceeded the transfer quota in the last 30 days. There might be technical issues with the app. You can try to reinstall the app just to make sure you have the last version and everything is working fine on the technical end. 

If you are using Western Unions website. Try clearing the browser’s cache and cookies or try using a different browser.

Wait for the Limit to Reset

If your transfer is being stopped for exceeding the limit either by the receiver or the sender. There is nothing much you would be able to do except to wait. The limit is set to reset for the last 30 days. 

Please note that the limit does not apply on a monthly basis, but on transfers made in the last 30 days. 

Escalate the Issue to Western Union

If you have tried all of the above steps and you are still not able to use your app. You should go ahead and escalate the issue to Western Union’s webcare team.

When sending the email, do mention all of the troubleshooting steps you have already tried so that the team does not end up replying to you with the generic troubleshoot once again. 

Claim a 50% Discount on Fee for Future Transactions

Whenever you face any technical issue on Western Unions website or the app. You can claim a 50% discount fee coupon as a coupon for the inconvenience. 

You can contact Western Unions support along with the error code you were getting. If the code indicated a technical problem they would give you a 50% discount on fee on your future transactions.
